Frequently Asked Questions...

Why does the class start on certain dates?
This is an automated function we’ve set in place to allow students to start their week (Monday) with a new lesson each time. It also allows our coaches to know where every student is in their journey.

What happens in a small group?
Small Group session are held once per month. A small group consists of 12 students, who will spend time getting to know one another and their coach. Students will be placed in groups based on their ability level and how long they’ve been in our program. Students will be able to ask questions live, and have them answered thoroughly. The primary goal of these groups is for students to connect with one another, be encouraged in their own journey and be inspired by what’s happening around the group.

How will I know if my child is progressing properly?
Assessment of your student can happen a few different ways.
First, please watch the first part of the following week’s video. At the beginning of each video, the student is shown exactly how to play the song they were assigned. Students who can play the song in that same manner, are ready for the next week’s lesson.

Second, make sure your student is taking the flash card quiz each week. The flash card information is crucial for the student to know and be familiar with on a week to week basis.

Third, use our “Ask the Coach” tool below each lesson video. Our coaches are here to help with any questions or problem that may arise during your student’s experience.

As a parent, what is my obligation to help my child in this course?
There is absolutely no obligation for parents to assist their children in this course. However, it’s our belief that, when parents are involved, students are more confident in what they’re learning and learn at a faster rate. Students LOVE to show their parents what they’re learning, and even more than that, LOVE when the parents think it’s a big deal. If parents have no idea what their student is doing/learning, they won’t know whether or not it’s cool or a big deal. Even if you know nothing about music, there will be items of which you’ll have a better understanding, and will be able to assist your child in understanding them effectively.

What happens if I miss the registration deadline?
Once registration is closed, it is closed. You will need to wait until we open another class. Keep on our email list to be notified when the next class is registering.

What is the “ask the coach” tool?
This feature is great for students and parents to receive quick feedback and assessment as they’re going through this program. Below each week's lesson, there will be a link to ask a question.

Do I need a computer at the piano?
One of the great aspects of this program, is that your student can watch from anywhere, on any device, as long as you have access to the internet. In our opinion, the best case scenario is for each student to have a computer, tablet or smartphone at the piano with them, allowing them to play along as the video plays. If that is not an option every week, the student can watch the video, and then go to the piano to practice what they were taught in the lesson, at another time.

Are the lessons only for children?
While we specifically geared our premium package program towards younger students, but anyone of any age can learn piano effectively through this program.

How long can my child take lessons using this online format?
Our program is going to take students through their first two (2) years. After that time, we encourage students to enroll in a live 1 on 1 lesson format, whether that’s in person or via video. We offer a live 1 on 1 lesson format for students of any age, and you can find out more about it by emailing us directly.

What if my child has taken lessons before, do I need to start at week 1?
This program is for beginners only. If you would consider your child a beginner, we then ask for each student to start from Lesson 1. There are aspects that if missed, will be detrimental to your students’ growth down the road.
From experience, we can tell you that we’ve seen many students with previous experience come into our program, and yet still lack information that should’ve been presented in the beginning weeks. The first few lessons may be easy for your child, but this will lay the groundwork well for what will come in the following weeks.
